New Venture Christian Church Newsletter Thursday, January 19th, 2012 "Mind Your Own Business." If money really could talk, what would yours say? Good-bye? No matter how much debt you have, no matter how many bills you have to pay, no matter how much – or how little – money you make, you can achieve financial freedom. In our current teaching series we are learning how to take practical steps, spend smarter, make personalized goals and learn why, when it comes to money, IN God We definitely Trust. We are seeing lives changed, by finances being changed right before our eyes. And we are hearing from some of our own New Venture people about how God has been working and honored in the use of the resources he has entrusted to them. This is really one of those teaching series that will change your life forever. What we are discovering in "Mind Your Own Business" needs to be told to the world. So, how about inviting a friend to join you? "Freedom From Debt" is Steve’s latest blog post. It includes a video testimony from Linda Spradlin on how long it has taken her to erase $66,000 of personal debt. Groups are offered on Tuesday and Wednesday nights this winter. Connect groups are a great example of Biblical community. They can become family to you. You talk about things that you never dreamed of talking about with people who are not in your bloodline. I mean, you talk about the very real, street level stuff. When one hurts, you all hurt. You cry together. There might be more tears shed in that group than you shed any other place. You laugh together. You celebrate. When something good happens you party, bring a cake for this, bring a cake for that, there’s always something to celebrate. When someone is down and out, there’s a sick kid or something, people bring meals, which is a really awesome thing. There is always someone in each group that cooks like nobody’s business. It’s just the most awesome feeling to know that the family of Christ genuinely cares for you. You pray daily for some of the needs in our group. You break bread. This isn’t accidental. It is intentional, and it is Biblical community. Our groups for the winter are as follows. Group max # is 18. Don’t delay. First come, first serve. Get connected today with a Connect Group. We have just a little over ten days to collect the peanut butter for the Richmond Food Bank. We will be collecting through the end of January. Bring your donations with you on Sunday or to the other drop off point listed above. Many are finding success in getting their workplace to participate also. So far we have about 400 jars collected. Sure would like to see that pushed up to 4000 by the end of the month. Backpack Lunch Program Sunday January 22nd from 11:45 to 2:30pm CiCi’s Pizza will give 15% of the sales receipts collected from our church members who come and eat there. This is the CiCi’s at Commonwealth Center. Be sure to tell the cashier that you want to donate your receipt to NV Backpack Lunch Program. The NVCC Church Bowl Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th, around 2pm @ This is just a good old game of flag football. Swift Creek Middle School. We are looking to have up to 16 participants. It’s that easy!!!! KIDVENTURE KORNER We are nearing the end of our lessons called the Plane Truth! It has been fun and we have learned alot about the Bible and ourselves and leading a life that is Christ-like! We are asking your children the questions…Is God the boss of your life!? Have you accepted HIM as your personal Savior? Have you asked him to live in your heart? For information on how to talk to your child about these subjects please see Misti or get the information on the check in table this Sunday. Please take a moment on Sundays to ask your children about the lesson and what they learned. We are working on learning more about the Bible and leading a life that is honoring God.
