New Venture Christian Church Newsletter Thursday, January 5th, 2012 "Mind Your Own Business."; Begins this Sunday, January 8 If money really could talk, what would yours say? Good-bye? No matter how much debt you have, no matter how many bills you have to pay, no matter how much – or how little – money you make, you can achieve financial freedom. Learn how to take practical steps, spend smarter, make personalized goals and learn why, when it comes to money, IN God We definitely Trust. Do someone a huge favor and invite them to join you. January Outreach Saturday January 7, 10 am Ministry Center, 201 N Courthouse Rd Richmond, 23236 Pretty please with peanut butter on top We are poised and ready to lead a community effort to help meet one of the biggest needs of the Richmond Food bank. One of the top four items the food bank needs is peanut butter. We have been collecting peanut butter throughout the month of December at New Venture. We are now ready to invite the community to join us in this collection effort. This Saturday, January 7, we will be passing out 2500 postcards to the nearby community that invites them to also bring peanut butter to drop points during the month of January. Our huge need at the current time is volunteers to help pass out the postcards. We are asking for ONE HOUR from each one to distribute the cards. We will meet at the Ministry Center, 201 N Courthouse Rd, at 10 am, get our assignment and cards and hit the road. The temp will to be back up in the 60′s for Saturday. It will be a gorgeous sunny day to pass out the cards. Will you join us? The benefits of this minimal effort are tremendous. Here are just a few. Meet a major need of the food bank Get to enjoy other Christ followers in service Make connections with our community in a positive and unselfish way Create a positive impression for the church Hopefully encourage someone to check out NVCC Get some exercise on a beautiful day With all these benefits why would you not want to join us? We sure hope you will. Then we need a few volunteers each week to "man" the collection places each Saturday and Sunday in January. The collection times are 10 am-12 noon on Saturdays at the Ministry Center and 9:30 am-11:30 am on Sundays at the church building. We need people to cover all or part of the collection time each week. It is just a matter of being there when people arrive and accepting their donation when they bring it. We will have banners posted to inform the public of the effort and "collection point" location for their peanut butter. Who would like to be the first to sign up as "collection point" volunteer? Begin now to pray for a tremendous response from our community. And please continue to bring your peanut butter each week. Let’s have a HUGE part in meeting the nutritional needs of some of the under resources people of the greater Richmond area and be a community leader in doing so. Backpack Lunch Program A reminder for those who have volunteered to help with the BLP. There will be a meeting at the ministry center at 12noon after church THIS SUNDAY, January 8th. Eat before you come or bring your lunch with you. See you there! Sunday January 22nd from 11:45 to 2:30pm CiCi’s Pizza will give 15% of the sales receipts collected from our church members who come and eat there. This is the CiCi’s at Commonwealth Center. Be sure to tell the cashier that you want to donate your receipt to NV Backpack Lunch Program.
